Questions, with the fine print.

Every answer here carries its conditions. If a promise has a limit, the limit is in the same sentence.

Leads and billing

What exactly counts as a lead?
A company contact with a usable address: a confirmed person, a confirmed role, or an unconfirmed or catch-all address printed on the company's own website with working mail. Every lead shows which one it is, so you can see what you're getting. A search that finds nobody costs nothing. A guessed address is never charged as a lead.
Am I charged per search?
No. You're charged per lead delivered, out of your plan's monthly allowance. A search that finds nobody uses no leads. Your plan fee itself is monthly (or yearly), whatever you use: Starter is $49/month for 250 leads and Growth is $99/month for 600.
What is a hard lead, and do I have to pay for one?
A search is hard when each delivered lead costs more to find than 1 lead may spend. You don't pay more unless you choose to. By default the search stops at that limit, says why in one line and offers the choice. Turn on Find hard leads too in Settings and those leads count as 2 or 3, by what they really cost to find. You see the price before the search starts, it never goes above the maximum you set, and only delivered leads are charged.
Do I pay for guessed addresses?
No. A guess appears in your list labelled as a guess, with the address hidden, and costs nothing. Autopilot may email a guess only with capacity the day would otherwise leave unused, one per company. If that person replies, the lead costs 1 and the address is revealed.
Do unused leads roll over?
Yes. Leads from your plan last for 2 billing cycles, and your balance of plan leads is capped at 3× your monthly leads. Hailyo always uses the leads that expire soonest first.
Can I buy more leads?
Paid subscribers can add 250 leads for $35 or 1,000 leads for $120. Pack leads last 12 months. Packs aren't available during the Test Drive.
Who can buy, and in what currency?
Hailyo sells to businesses only, in US dollars. If you see prices in your own currency, they're estimates, and checkout shows the exact amount. Taxes may apply depending on where your business is. The seller is Ravinaro LLC, a Wyoming (United States) limited liability company.

Finding leads

Will I get the number of leads I ask for?
We keep going until you have your number, or tell you why not. A search that runs short widens to nearby cities and similar businesses in the background, inside the countries you chose, and you're charged only for what's delivered. Some markets are just small: Hailyo tells you in one line and offers to add a country. Nobody can honestly guarantee a number, and we don't.
Do I have to choose where leads come from?
No. Each search uses the sources that fit it: maps for local businesses, the web, hiring and filing signals, and public profiles to name people. Cheaper sources go first. Before a search spends anything you see what Hailyo understood, the places, about how many leads to expect and the price. If you describe a person that's hard to find from outside, it suggests kinds of companies it can find, and you confirm.
Will I get leads from countries I didn't choose?
Your countries are a rule. Hailyo works out each company's country from its address, phone, listing or website, and drops one that's clearly elsewhere. A company whose country it can't determine stays only if evidence ties it to a country you chose.
Can I search several ideas at once?
Yes. Type several ideas together, or tick them in New ideas, where Hailyo suggests ideas it can prove from your website and learns from replies. Each lead carries a label for its idea and source, and you can filter by them.
Where do my leads end up?
One workspace can hold several businesses, and each offer they sell gets its own list automatically, for Autopilot and Find leads alike. A search with no offer goes to your default list. A lead can sit in several lists.
Can I bring leads from another tool?
Yes. Import a CSV export from any tool, and Hailyo re-checks the addresses before you send, at no charge for up to 5,000 rows a month. Imported leads don't use your lead balance, and they aren't covered by the bounce credit, because Hailyo didn't find them.

Autopilot

Can Hailyo run without me?
That's Autopilot. You set one up for an offer, or several with different leads, read sample emails and a sample reply, and agree that it sends without per-email approval. Then it finds leads, writes, checks, sends and, if you allow it, answers replies. It stops itself at 3 hard bounces in the latest 50 emails or at any spam complaint. Autopilot is running on our own businesses first, and opens to customers workspace by workspace. It needs a paid plan and isn't part of the Test Drive. How Autopilot works.
Can I turn Autopilot on today?
Autopilot is running on our own businesses first, and opens to customers workspace by workspace. It needs a paid plan and isn't part of the Test Drive. If you want it, write to hello@hailyo.com. Everything else on this site is there for you from day one, with approval before each send.
What makes Autopilot stop?
3 hard bounces in the latest 50 emails, any spam complaint, a paused mailbox, 3 failed drafts in the latest 20, an AI budget that has run out, or your monthly limit. It also stops if the checks can't run, so nothing goes out unchecked. You see the reason on its page and by email.
What happens to a draft that fails a check?
Autopilot rewrites it up to twice and runs every check again each time. If it still fails, the draft is dropped and that lead is skipped. Nothing that failed gets sent.
Does it answer replies?
Only if you allow it, and it hands the thread to you at clear interest or after a booking, whichever you choose. A low-confidence answer, a legal question, an angry reply or someone who asks for a person all go to you. It stops at 6 replies in a thread.
Does Autopilot guarantee meetings?
No. It sends, follows up and passes on the people who are interested. Results depend on your offer and your market, and we'd rather show you the numbers as they come in. Autopilot's page shows its results and what it has learned about which ideas, subject lines and openings get replies.

When a lead bounces

What happens if a lead bounces?
If a lead you were charged for hard-bounces on its first send, you get it back automatically and it shows on your ledger. That applies when the lead was charged in the 14 days before that send and your domain passed its checks at send time, up to 10% of the month's leads. Full terms.
When does a bounce give me a lead back?
When a lead you were charged for hard-bounces (the address doesn't exist) on its first send through Hailyo, it was charged no more than 14 days before that send, and your sending domain passed SPF, DKIM and DMARC at the time. Soft bounces, blocks by the receiving server and imported leads don't count. Credits are capped at 10% of that month's leads. Leads older than 14 days are re-checked free before their first send.
What is the first-month guarantee?
If more than 3% of the leads Hailyo found hard-bounce during your first paid month (with at least 50 emails sent), ask us and we refund that month's $49. This is a money refund, separate from the lead you get back for each bounce.

The $1 Test Drive

Is the $1 Test Drive a trap?
No, and here's every term up front. You pay $1 today for 30 days, 100 leads and 2 mailboxes. Unless you cancel, it becomes Starter at $49/month for 250 leads. We email you 7 days before that first charge, and you can cancel online in Settings at any time.
How does the $1 Test Drive renew?
It lasts 30 days with 100 leads, 2 mailboxes and 1 seat. Then it becomes Starter at $49/month for 250 leads unless you cancel. You'll get a reminder 7 days before the first charge. One Test Drive per business. Upgrading during the Test Drive ends it and starts the full plan price straight away.
How do I cancel, and what happens to my leads?
Cancel online in Settings. Your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for. Unused leads expire 30 days after the subscription ends, and the leads you already found are yours to export any time, even after you cancel.

Sending from your mailboxes

Why does Hailyo only send cold email from my own mailboxes?
So your sending reputation is built on your own domain and mailboxes, not shared with anyone else's. Cold email goes out only through mailboxes you connect: Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or any mailbox over SMTP/IMAP. Hailyo never sends it from a shared pool of its own.
What can Hailyo do in my mailbox?
Send the emails you approved or that a running Autopilot wrote, and read the replies to them. You connect Microsoft 365 with Microsoft's sign-in, Google Workspace with an app password, or any mailbox over SMTP/IMAP. Disconnect in Settings whenever you like, or revoke Hailyo from your Microsoft account or delete the Google app password. More on mailbox access.
Do you have a warmup network?
No. Hailyo doesn't swap emails with a pool of strangers' inboxes to make yours look busy. A new mailbox builds up with real emails instead: 12 a day in week one, 25 in week two, 40 in week three, then up to 50 a day while it stays healthy.
Why so few emails a day?
Because that's what keeps a domain healthy. A new mailbox sends 12 a day in week one, 25 in week two, 40 in week three, then up to 50 a day while it stays healthy. Each mailbox you add brings its own capacity, and Settings shows what each can send today and when that grows. If you want thousands of emails a day from day one, Hailyo isn't for you.
How do I know what I can send?
Settings shows it per mailbox and in total: what you can send today, this week's daily limit, the next increase and its date, what's holding it back in one line, and how many more a day another mailbox would give. A mailbox slows down by itself on bounces or spam and recovers by itself afterwards.
How hard is setting up my domain?
You see every record together, once, at setup, including the one that proves the domain is yours. Where your DNS provider supports it, you approve the change and Hailyo writes the records. Otherwise you get a guide for your provider, and Hailyo keeps re-checking until they pass. A temporary lookup failure isn't shown as a broken domain.
Do I have to approve every email?
By default, yes: approval before every send is on for every step of a sequence. You can switch it off for a step once you trust it. Every email also passes Hailyo's checks right before it sends, and one that fails is held with the reason, never sent anyway. Autopilot is the exception you opt into, where a failed draft is rewritten or dropped.
When does Hailyo pause sending on its own?
When the numbers say your domain is at risk. A sequence pauses at 2% hard bounces and a mailbox at 3% (once at least 200 emails have gone out). A domain pauses until it's fixed if SPF, DKIM or DMARC fail. Every pause rule.

Your data

Where is my data stored?
In the US or the EU: you choose per workspace. EU workspaces are kept in a separate EU database and EU file storage. More on data residency.
How are my mailbox credentials protected?
They're encrypted with AES-256-GCM before they're stored, with a key that belongs to your workspace alone. Microsoft 365 connects through Microsoft's own sign-in, so Hailyo never sees that password. How encryption works.
Is cold email legal where I sell?
B2B cold email is legal in the US under CAN-SPAM, and in the UK and EU under conditions (PECR and GDPR legitimate interest). Every email Hailyo sends carries a working one-click unsubscribe and your business address. EU and UK contacts need a legitimate-interest note before they can be added to a sequence. You stay responsible for who you contact.
